Ham and Cheese Strata

Italian bread cubes arranged in bottom of prepared baking dish and topped with layers of broccoli florets, chopped roasted red pepper, coarsely chopped deli ham, sliced green onion, and shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Casserole topped with mixture of whole milk, eggs, fresh ground black pepper, and yellow mustard.

Ingredients -

6 cups (1" cubes) Plain or Whole Wheat Italian Bread
1 (10 ounces) box Frozen Broccoli Florets, thawed and coarsely chopped
6 ounces Sliced Baked or Deli Ham, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup Chopped Roasted Red Peppers
4 Green Onions, sliced
1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
6 Large Eggs
2 cups Whole Milk
2 tablespoons Yellow Mustard
1/4 teaspoon Pepper

 
Preparation:

1. Turn the oven to 375 degrees and preheat.

2. Spray a 2 quart casserole baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

3. Layer half of the bread cubes in the bottom of the prepared dish.

4. Cover with half of the following; broccoli, peppers, ham, green onions and cheddar cheese, then repeat the layers.

5. In a small bowl, combine the milk, eggs, pepper and mustard and whisk well.

6. Pour the milk mixture over the top.

7. Bake until puffed and golden brown, which takes about 1 hour.

8. Let sit for 5 minutes, then serve and enjoy.
