1. Turn the oven to 350 degrees and preheat.
2. Steam the broccoli as per the directions, then drain.
3. Whisk together the egg, soup, milk, cheese, horseradish and mayonnaise and stir into the steamed broccoli.
4. Grease a 2 quart casserole baking dish with butter.
5. Transfer the broccoli mixture into the prepared dish.
6. Mix together the cracker crumbs and shortening and sprinkle evenly over the broccoli mixture.
7. Bake for 45 minutes, serve and enjoy.
