Baked Sausage and Ziti Casserole

Ziti pasta topped with browned pork sausage, spaghetti sauce, garlic salt, oregano, and ricotta cheese. Casserole is garnished with mozzarella cheese and baked until golden brown and bubbling.

Ingredients -

1 (16 ounces) package Ziti Pasta
1 pound Ground Pork Sausage
1 (15 ounces) jar Spaghetti Sauce
1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
1 teaspoon Oregano
1 cup Ricotta Cheese
8 ounces Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

 
Preparation:

1. Cook pasta according to package directions.

2. Meanwhile, add pork sausage to sauté pan. Brown sausage over low to medium heat. Drain off fat. Remove to paper towels, if necessary.

3. Add ½ spaghetti sauce, garlic salt, oregano, and ricotta cheese to sausage.

4. Add cooked, drained pasta to large casserole dish.

5. Spread reserve spaghetti sauce over top.

6. Garnish with Mozzarella cheese.

7. Bake at 375 F. for 30 minutes.

Dried oregano can be found in the spice section with other spices. Dried oregano retains its original flavor well, and is well suited for use in sauces, stews, and soups. Oregano pairs very well with tomatoes and tomato sauce.
